Originaly organized in 1982, the young men and women of Explorer Post 2089 have been an integral part of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department for over 30 years. Made up of Croton area youths between the ages of 14 and 17, the Explorer program has continued to help develop High School students into prominent members of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department whom, in some cases, have risen through ranks to become Chief of the department. The Explorer program is a rewarding experience that will enable it's members a chance to help their community. The members of our post can be seen at almost every event the Croton FD participates in. They march in Summerfest and other area parades, help with our annual Fire Fair, train alongside our members and even respond to various calls for help.
Once a member reaches their 16th birthday, they have the option to join one of the five companys of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department as a "Probationary Active Firefighter (PAF)." In this role, members can begin taking New York State Firefighter Training Courses and attend other great training programs to help them become great firefighters when they turn 18 years old.
