Around 9:30 AM on Tuesday, the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, Croton EMS, Croton Police and Ossining Paramedics were dispatched to a Vehicle Service Station on South Riverside Avenue for a Pedestrian Struck by a motor-vehicle.

Units arrived on scene finding a female was backed over by a pickup truck and suffered traumatic injuries to her lower extremities. A civilian - still unknown whom - recognized the severity of the injury and applied a makeshift tourniquet to control the bleeding until help arrived. The patient was treated by EMS while FD remained on scene to assist PD with the scene. Units cleared this incident about 30 minutes later.

Shortly after 1:00 PM, our Firefighter Assist & Search Team (FASTeam) was dispatched to an active House Fire in the Village of Ossining. Engine 119 with a crew of 5 was assigned and our members were requested to assist with searching for a male adult victim and with fire suppression. Ossining and Croton personnel located the unconscious male on the second floor and removed him outside to awaiting EMS. Despite the valiant efforts of all involved, the subject was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Units operated at this incident for about 90 minutes.

During this incident, a residential fire alarm occurred in our village. Along with our Engines 118 & Engine 120, an additional Engine Company from Montrose VAFD was also assigned. This alarm turned out to be false.

Our department extends our condolences to the deceased at the Ossining fire and hopes for a speedy and full recovery to the pedestrian struck on South Riverside Avenue.
