CFD Goes to Work at Montrose All-Hands

While companies were operating at a Residential Alarm in Harmon, the CFD's FAST was summoned to the scene of a Structure Fire in Montrose. There, Montrose FD was fighting a blaze on Furnace Dock Road at the Cortlandt Arts Center, and needed the help of their primary FAST company from Mohegan. Because of this, Battalion 10 requested the Croton team for relief.

Battling a fire is tough enough, but with snow and ice on the ground and a wind chill factor below zero, this one was nothing short of brutal on the men fighting this inferno. On dispatch, Car 2083 marked responding and had TL44 respond to Station 2 to drop off FAST personnel. Once TL44 made this drop, E119 was on the way with a crew of six, Car 2083 had 3 and two more were meeting the units on scene for a total of 11 members.

On arrival, the crew took over the FAST duty from Mohegan FD, who also loaned their gear to our team so they didn't have to carry it nearly a quarter mile up hill to the scene (thanks!). With the initial attack teams from Montrose and Buchanan in need of a well-deserved break, the Incident Commander put personnel from Croton into action.

Car 2083 (A/C Colombo) kept personnel assigned to FAST duty while Croton and Mohegan firefighters worked the blaze. After nearly four hours, the Croton FD units returned to service, and back to quarters to thaw out.

Montrose Car 2273, Assistant Chief Roush, had Command.
