Over 40 Members Participate in Communications Class
By CFD Training Division
January 30, 2017
This evening, over 40 members of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department participated in a Radio & Communications class. This training, held at Harmon Firehouse, was taught by Deputy Chief & self-proclaimed "Radio Geek" John Munson.
Topics covered included our department's radio systems, the radio systems used in Westchester County, general communications, CFD radio ops guidelines, Urgent & Mayday communications and Medical Helicopter landing zone procedures. After the lecture, members took turns relaying radio messages to see how easy it is for transmissions to be "lost in translation."
This training is part of the Department Training Division's initiative to offer our members refresher training on common procedures, operations and frequently & infrequently used equipment.
Thanks to Captain Ferguson for the photos.
