Around 9:25 PM on Thursday night, Croton's Bravest were called to the Van Cortlandt Manor property at the end of South Riverside Avenue where a vehicle - apparently fleeing from Croton Police Officers - crashed, injuring and trapping the driver inside of the vehicle.

Upon the arrival of Car 2082 (Asst. Chief Colombo), he confirmed one subject was still in the vehicle and extrication would be needed. Engine 119 (Washington) arrived moments later, and their crew deployed their "Jaws of Life" hydraulic rescue tool while simultaneously stretched a 1 3/4" hand line as a precaution against any fire.

The operator of the vehicle had struck the fence at the main entrance, then struck a parked van before coming to a stop. The vehicle had sustained significant damage, and the crew of E119 began to execute a "door pop" to help free the driver. After making a couple of spreads with the "Jaws," EMS reported the patient was free and were able to remove him from the passenger side of the car.

Members of Engine 120 (Harmon) assisted with lighting and spill control, while the crew of Engine 118 (Chemical) kept their crew intact and available for any additional calls in district.

According to CPD officers on scene, the vehicle was chased from the village's north end until it crashed here at Van Cortlandt Manor. The driver of the elusive vehicle was taken to Westchester Medical Center via Croton EMS and the Ossining Paramedic with unspecified injuries.
