Around 7:40 AM on Saturday, our Tanker 10 was requested Mutual Aid to neighboring Montrose FD for a large brush fire in the southern end of Blue Mountain Reservation, off of Watch Hill Road. Answering this request was Tanker 10 with a crew of four and Car 2082.

Upon T10's arrival, we were staged on Washington Street and utilized to refill the UTVs from Buchanan, Continental Village and Verplanck Fire Departments. After doing this a few times, T10 was relocated up to the fire scene, where it refilled Montrose's Engine 121 and continued to refill the UTVs. It appeared that a fire originating in some construction vehicles spread into the surrounding woods, and crews were spread out hitting fire in numerous locations.

At the suggestion of the CFD members, T10 was repositioned and began to hit the fire's edge with it's deck gun. After doing this a couple of times, a decision was made to utilize hose lines to reach areas that the deck gun could not. a 300 foot 1 3/4" crosslay was pulled, and a 1" forestry line was put to work.

At 11:05 AM, the Incident Commander (Montrose 2271) requested an Engine and Utility 14 from Croton with additional personnel. This brought an additional half dozen plus members to the scene, which then relieved our original crew and put to use a second 1" forestry line. Members from the CFD worked with members of Buchanan, Continental Village, Montrose, Millwood and Verplanck Fire Departments to contain the blaze a short time later.

Croton's Bravest were released just before 3 PM, and returned to our Station #2 where they repacked hose and cleaned equipment for nearly another two hours. A total turnout from the CFD of fifteen members answered this call, and additional personnel kept themselves available in Croton in the event of any additional alarms.
