The first week of October had the CFD Volunteers answering a dozen calls for assistance. Here's a quick recap of those incidents.

10/1 - A two-car Motor-Vehicle Accident (MVA) occurred on Saturday morning on East Mount Airy Road near Lincoln Road. Car 2082 (Colombo), Car 2083 (Pesavento), Engine 118 (Chemical), Rescue 18(Fire Patrol) and Utility 14 (Washington) were on scene along with one Ambulance from Croton EMS and one Ambulance from Ossining EMS in addition to their Paramedic Fly-Car.

10/2 - Car 2083, Engine 118 & Engine 120 handled a Commercial Fire Alarm at Croton Point Park that was accidentally set off by a youth around 10:35 AM. About an hour later, Car 2082, Car 2083, Engine 118, Tanker 10 & Rescue 18 handled a Residential Alarm on Quaker Ridge Road, which was set off by cooking smoke.

10/3 - At 5:35 PM units were called to the Croton Commons Shopping Center on South Riverside Avenue for a minor MVA. 2082 arrived to find no need for FD units and cancelled E120, R18 & U14.

10/4 - A Full Assignment was dispatched to a Mount Airy Road home where the home's electrical service line was sparking and smoking on the side of the home. While responding to this incident, 60 Control dispatched us to a reported gas leak along the 100-block of Maple Street. Car 2083, E118 & E120 handled the Maple call while Car 2089 (J. Munson), T10, TL44 & U14 investigated the Mount Airy incident. Both incidents were turned over to Con Edison for repair. Later, around 6:20 PM, units took in a single car accident on northbound Route 9 near Senasqua Road. 2082, 2083, E120 & U14 handled this incident, with CEMS taking one to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation.

10/5 - On Wednesday around 1:05 PM units were dispatched to northbound Route 9 near Senasqua Road for the report of a motorcycle accident. While responding, Croton Police advised there was no accident, that it was only a motorcycle with a flat tire and the operator was lying on the ground checking out his bike's issue. Car 2081 (Mansfield) called off our responding apparatus and EMS. At 7:35 PM units investigated what was a malfunctioning Carbon Monoxide alarm on Whelan Avenue. 2082, 2083 and E120 handled this run.

10/6 - Thursday was another "Hat Trick" day for the members, answering another three calls. At 4:50 PM 2082, 2088 (P. Dinkler) and E118 were called to assist a female from the stalled elevator at the Symphony Knoll Senior Housing on Mount Airy Road. While operating at this incident, other CFD units were sent to the lower end of Cleveland Drive for a reported gas leak. A small leak in the home was handled by 2082, E120, T10 & U14. As units cleared these two incidents, 60 Control advised the CFD of a reported inside odor of smoke on Sunset Drive. 2082, 2083, E120, E118, TL44, T10 & U14 investigated and found no hazard.
